PRIMITIVE FOLK ART THANKSGIVING TURKEY

Quantity 5 available!

Welcome Prim Friends, and thank you for stopping by to view my new Fall & Thanksgiving Offerings. Here we have a Primitive Grungy Turkey that I have fondly named "Crosby". He would display nicely as a center piece or shelf sitter on a halltree or bureau accenting your Thanksgiving Decor. This piece measures 12" tall, 6" deep and 11" wide.

I have created this piece in the primitive fashion to give it that time-worn look. The Turkey's body is sewn from muslin and stuffed with fiberfill with a weighted bottom and his tail and wings are quilted and top stitched. I then aged him with a mixture of cinnamon-coffee-vanilla solution, baked in the oven, followed by a dusting with dry cinnamon giving him a wonderful scented auroma of fresh pumpkin pie. Tiny dark buttons are sewn on for the eyes and his waddle is cut from barn red paint-washed muslin and his beak is paint-washed antique gold.

His scrunched down top hat is sewn from muslin and paint-washed in black, aged, baked, sanded and dusted with the cinnamon. One wing holds a bunch of natural raffia to resemble straw. For his collar, I have strung rusty bells on rusty wire around his neck. His webbed feet are made from bent rusty tin wire.

I have given him a Prim Hang Tag that I aged with the coffee-vanilla-cinnamon stain and carefully burnt the edges with a flame. "Crosby" is printed in black prim letters.

Welcome Prim Friends, and thank you for stopping by to view my new Halloween Offerings. Here we have a Primitive Folk Art Ghost Art Doll that I have fondly named "Boo". This Olde Guy would display nicely as a wallhanging or door greeter with your Halloween Decor. He measures 20" tall and 12" wide and 3" deep.

I created this piece in the primitive grungy fashion to give it that time-worn look. The ghost's body is sewn from muslin, stuffed with fiberfill, and aged with coffee-vanilla stain, and baked. His eyes have been both hand-painted and drawn with artist pencils, and I have given him a pinch-stitched nose and those wonderful up-lifted eyelids that I have stitched on by hand. His facial wrinkles were created with artist pencils and I have prim stitched his mouth with black floss and sealed it all with a matte sealer.

I have hand-stitched the word "Boo" onto a circle of stained felt with black floss and prim-stitched this to his chest. Shading was done with artist pencils. His out-stretched arms and spooky hands are made from floral wire, wrapped in floral tape, painted and stained.

I have given him a spooky hooded drape made from cheese cloth that I have put through the grunging process with coffee-vanilla-cinnamon stain. It is tied around his neck and drapes over his skinny spooky fingers.

I have given him a Prim Tag that has been stained in the coffee-vanilla-cinnamon mixture and topped with a nostalgic vintage greeting card image of a witch flying on her broom by the light of the harvest moon and an olde owl perched on a tree branch that says "Hallowe'en Greetings". I have carefully burnt the edges with a flame, sealed it and attached it to the drape with a rusty safety pin.

The measurements are: the Pumpkin is 13" tall x 4" wide, the Ghost is 13" tall x 3" wide, the Witch is 16" tall x 4" wide and the Mummie is 11" tall x 3" wide.

I created this set in the primitive fashion to give it that time-worn look. All heads are sewn from muslin, stuffed with fiberfill and needle-sculpted by hand. I have sewn each of their heads onto an olde antique sewing bobbin and painted the bobbins a matching color. I have given them those wonderful uplifted eye lids hand-stitched onto their faces. Facial features were both painted with acrylics and shaded with artist pencils followed with a matte sealer.

For the Pumpkin Shaker, I paint-washed her head in terra cotta, sanded and aged her with a grungy, coffee-vanilla-cinnamon staining mixture and baked in the sun. Her eyes were hand painted brown and I sponge painted a leaf in green tones and connected it to the twig stem by way of curly rusty wire. Her collar was sewn from a midnight black Debbie Mumm original printed with golden ribbons and stars. Underneath I have gathered black tulle netting. The bobbin was painted in black to match the collar and the front is embellished with a rusty star with dangling rusty bells on black pearl cording.

For the Ghost Shaker, I have pinch-stitched her nose and paint-washed her in antique white, then baked and sanded. Her eyes are painted and shading was penciled in blue with orange lips. The sparkly star at the corner of her eye features Black German Glass Glitter. Her collar is layers of ivory-stained cheesecloth embellished with a rusty moon with dangling rusty bells on black pearl cording. The bobbin was painted antique white to match the collar.

For the Witch, I painted her face antique white, then baked and sanded and penciled it pale green. Her green eyes and orange mouth were painted and brown artist pencil was used for shading. Her separate crooked nose was stitched onto her face. Black sheeps wool was needle-felted in place for her hair and her cheeks were blushed. Her witch hat was paint-washed black, sanded, aged with coffee-vanilla-cinnamon stain and sewn to her head with a rusty bell tied at the tip. Fine black vintage tinsel garland adorns her hat at the base. Her collar was sewn from a Debbie Mumm original block print with flying witches and jackolanterns over an under skirt of gathered black tulle netting. The bobbin was painted black and orange to match the collar.

For the Mummie, I painted his face antique white, then baked and sanded. His Grey eyes and black mouth were painted and grey artist pencil was used for shading his pinch stitched nose and saggy eyes. I have wrapped him in layers of grey paint-stained cheese cloth and painted his bobbin grey to match.

This piece has been lovingly made by me from inspirations of a pattern designed by Pea Picker's Primitives and adding my own embellishments.

PRIM FOLKART AMERICANA UNCLE SAM HAT CANDLE LAMP

Welcome Prim Friends, and thank you for stopping by to view my new Patriotic Offerings. Here we have a Primitive Folk Art Americana Candle Lamp placed in an Uncle Sam Hat. This piece would display nicely as a centerpiece, shelf sitter, or placed on a bureau, table or halltree during the July 4th holiday or year round in your Americana decor home. It measures approximately 24" tall and 13"wide and 8" deep.

I have created this piece in the primitive fashion to give it that time-worn look....heavily grubbied. The USA hat is sewn from muslin and quilted around the crown with vertical patches and stained with my coffee-vanilla stain. The stripes are then painted red, white and navy blue and the brim and hat band are painted navy blue. After baking in the oven, the hat is gently sanded and grubbied with a coffee-vanilla-cinnamon sludge, sprinkled with cinnamon and baked again.

Inside the hat, I placed an electric silicone candle lamp adhered to floral foam and ran the cord out the back of the hat. The cord has an on/off control so that it does not have to be unplugged to turn it off. An arrangement of fresh Sweet Annie dried floral and red pip berries are nestled into a bed of green smagnum moss. I have printed out the Declaration of Independence on parchment colored paper, stained it with the coffee-vanilla solution and carefully burnt the edges with a flame. I then rolled it into a scroll and placed it in the hat.

Four American flags were cut from muslin and each hand-painted with red and white stripes and a navy blue square to hold the stars. The stars are cross-stitched by hand with ecru floss. The flags were then sanded and grubbied with coffee-vanilla-cinnamon followed with a sprinkling of cinnamon. Each flag is adhered to a stained dowel and glued into the floral foam.

A nostalgic vintage postcard image was adhered to cardboard, carefully burned the edges and adhered to a dowel as a pick. I have wired a rusty tin Prim star to heavy twisted rusty wire as a pick. A rusty bell is pinned to the front of the hat with a rusty safety pin. More smagnum moss was adhered to the bottom of the hat along the front. Cinnamon was adhered to the edges of the hat brim to give it that grungy appearance.

This piece has been lovingly made by me using a pattern designed by The Old Glory Company.

PRIMITIVE FOLK ART BUNNY MOM & CHILDREN

Welcome Prim Friends and thank you for stopping by to visit my new Spring offerings. Here we have a Primitive Folk Art Garden Bunny holding her two Bunny Children that I have fondly named "All My Children". She measures 36" long, from the tip of her ears to her toes and 12" wide. They are just the sweetest and sure to be a Year Round favorite!I have created this piece in a primitive fashion to give it that time-worn look. I have sewn Mom's soft sculptured body from warm brown Shaggy Felt accented with Dk Brown Plush Felt for the contrasting eye spot and contrasting ear. The ear inserts are sewn from tea-stained muslin, and her body is stuffed tightly with sculpted paws using dark brown embroidery floss.
Her long ears are wired which makes them poseable and her eyes are stitched on with shiney black beads. I have prim-stitched her nose and mouth with dark brown floss and blushed her cheeks and ears. Sewn-on whiskers are made from strands of sisal rope.

The children were constructed in the same materials as the Mom, but their spotted markings are alternating patterns using the two colors of felt. They have jointed arms and legs and are pinned to Mom's body with rusty safety pins. The darker child bunny has a stained scarf torn from green and cream gingham homespun and tied in a bow around the neck. The lighter child bunny has an aged scarf torn from rusty red gingham homespun and tied around the neck.

Her farm dress is sewn from a high quality 1930's reproduction keepsake calico featuring a muted celery green floral print with puffed sleeves and a gathered empire waste. I have used a keepsake calico print in rusty red roses printed on a camel background for the contrasting band around the hem and the sleeves. The collar is shaped from stained cotton batting, prim stitched with a rusty red floss border and topped with rusty red button tied on with linen string. The sleeves are cinched with dark red pearl cording. I have dipped her clothing in a strong coffee-vanilla ageing solution for an olde appearance.

Her pinafore apron with ruffled sleeves was sewn from a rusty red and cream calico floral print, gathered and secured to the front of her dress with two big black buttons. Her pantaloons were sewn from this same fabric. A band of the matching rusty red rose print compliments the hemline of the apron.

She was then aged with my coffee-vanilla stain and baked in the oven. Her big eyes and 3-dimensional bunny nose are both painted on and shaded with artist pigma pencils, then sealed. I have prim-stitched her mouth and eye brows with black floss and blushed her cheeks and ears. Sewn-on whiskers are made from strands of sisal rope and a single blue posey is adorns one of her ears.

I have dipped her clothing in a strong coffee-vanilla ageing solution for an olde appearance. Her farm dress is torn and sewn from a high quality Debbie Mumm calico print featuring tiny daisies sprinkled on a blue mottled background. Her apron was torn from a coordinating deep gold reproduction print, gathered and secured to the front of her dress. The collar is made from an aged antique cluny lace topped with a tiny blue posey button. Her pantaloons were torn and sewn from a complimentary Debby Mumm gold stripe cotton.

Her Mary Jane shoes are painted on her feet, baked and sanded. I have used tiny Mother of Pearl buttons for the
buckles. Her antique white socks are painted on her legs
and trimmed with ivory French lace.

The bouquet of posies are each sewn from muslin, aged in a coffee-vanilla-cinnamon stain, baked and painted wedgewood blue with rose centers and antique white with gold centers. The tulips are aged and painted a dusty rose. Each one has a wired, poseable stem wrapped in hunter green checked cotton strips. The bouquet is sewn to her dress and her paw.

Priscilla would make the perfect gift for the Bunny Collector for year round display or to brighten up your Easter and Spring Garden decor. The last photo shows her sister doll offered in another auction.

This doll was lovingly handmade by me from a pattern created by Sweet Meadows Farm.

Her long ears are wired which makes them poseable, and she was aged with my coffee-vanilla stain and baked in the oven. Her big brown eyes and stuffed three dimensional burgundy bunny nose are both painted on and shaded with artist pigma pencils, then sealed. I have prim-stitched her mouth and eye brows with black floss and blushed her cheeks and ears. Sewn-on whiskers are made from strands of sisal rope and a matching plaid homespun bow adorns one of her ears.

I have dipped her clothing in a strong coffee-vanilla ageing solution for an olde appearance. Her apron was torn from a rusty red and green homespun plaid, gathered and secured to the front of her dress. The collar is made from stained antique cluny lace topped with an antique gold button with a dark red stone center. Her pantaloons were torn and sewn from a coordinating Debby Mumm rusty red and gold stripe cotton.

Her Mary Jane shoes are painted on her feet, baked and sanded. I have used tiny Mother of Pearl buttons for the buckles. Her antique white socks are painted on her legs and trimmed with ivory French lace.

Her baby bunny is sewn from tea-dyed muslin, stuffed tightly with wired poseable ears. I have prim stitched the facial feautures with black floss for the eyes and mouth and dusty rose floss for the tiny nose. The baby bunny's cheeks and centers of the ears are blushed teaberry.

The baby bunny is nestled into a pea pod that is sewn from muslin in the shape of a pea pod shell with a stuffed stem, stained with coffee-vanilla-cinnamon, paint-washed in various shades of pea green and baked. The remnant of an olde antique quilt was used for the baby's blanket, stained and tucked around his sleeping body.

~PRIM FOLK ART OLDE DOLL & HEIRLOOM BEAR~

Welcome Prim Friends, and thank you for stopping by to view my new Hand Crafted Offerings. Here we have a primitive set which includes a large Primitive Folk Art Doll with her vintage-style Heirloom Teddy Bear that I have fondly named "Bedtime Belinda". This piece measures 36" tall and 10" wide and would be perfect to display in a wooden rocking chair, or sitting on your bed or your couch.

I have created this piece in the primitive fashion to give it that time-worn look. Belinda is a one-of-a-kind, original design, as I did not use a pattern to make her. Her multi-sectional round-head body is sewn from muslin, stuffed tightly and stained with a coffee-vanilla aging solution. For her facial features, I have pinch-stitched her nose and brows, painted on her big brown eyes and red lips and outlined them with Pigma artist pencils in brown followed with a matte sealing. Her fingers are narrow and needle-sculpted and her narrow legs and pointed feet are this dainty style too. I have used lots of chestnut dyed sheeps wool curls needle-felted in place for her hair. Her Mary Jane shoes have been paint-washed in black, baked, stained and sanded. I have used tiny antique Mother of Pearl buttons for her shoe buckles.Belinda is dressed in a genuine vintage antique baby's gown featuring fine batiste that I have salvaged just for this purpose. Very detailed rows of embroidered french knots, pintuck pleating make up the front of the dress with tiny batiste-covered buttons running down the front. Fine vintage French lace edging trims the neckline and the sleeves. This dress has all the signs of years and years of aging with tiny worn places which just add to the beauty of this dress. I have dipped it in the coffee-vanilla solution to give it the nice warm brown tones and hand-gathered it at the back neckline to fit the doll.

She is holding a soft-sculpture jointed Vintage-style Heirloom Bear that I have created from brown Shaggy Felt with hand-stitched tiny black beads for eyes and a black floss nose. Tied around his neck, I have used cheese cloth for his scarf which I aged in a coffee-vanilla-cinnamon stain. I added a stained round tag marked "1708" and a rusty tin bell attached with a rusty safety pin to his chest.

I have given her a Prim Tag stained in the coffee-vanilla mixture and topped it with a nostalgic vintage image of a little Victorian girl bordered in rosey toile and a rose pink bow. I attached it with a rusty safety pin to the lace on the sleeves. The bear design was lovingly hand-made by me with the inspiration from a pattern created by Sweet Meadows Farm.
